Just a placeholder to prove that I can:

1. make posts (and footnotes1)
2. use MarkDown
3. embed $$LaTeX$$

The field equations for Einstein's theory of General Relativity are, in tensor form,

$R_{\mu\nu} - \frac{1}{2}g_{\mu\nu}R = \frac{8\pi G}{c^4}T_{\mu\nu}$

If we want to talk about code, we can use backticks to write function names. read is my favourite function. It can be used like so:

uint8_t buffer[16];
int r = read(fd, buffer, sizeof(buffer));
if (r < 0) barf();

// Do something with the r bytes in your buffer.

Block-quotes seem to be a thing, but I don't know how useful they might be yet:

This is a thing that someone said.

Rich, just now

Well, that's all from me for the moment.
